Our Why
On April 16, 2024, a family member suffered a massive stroke at the young age of 33. Navigating his care, fighting for resources, and facing a future forever changed showed us how unprepared families are for the aftermath of brain injury.
Through this journey, we realized families should never have to “figure it out” alone. That’s why BrainWaves exists—to bridge the gap in care and support after brain injury. From the first days of crisis through recovery, we’re here to guide, uplift, and restore lives—one brainwave at a time.
Empowering the care coaches (i.e., caregivers) of survivors of brain injury through bold advocacy, personalized care, and the healing power of community, driven by compassion and the strength of every brainwave.
Mission
Vision
A world where every person affected by brain injury has access to care that enables recovery and fosters a life of dignity, purpose, and as much independence as possible.
BrainWaves was formed to meet a need too often overlooked: the ongoing support of both the care coach and survivor of brain injury. Recovery doesn’t end after discharge, and neither should support! Recovery is a lifelong journey that can feel overwhelming, isolating, and without a clear roadmap. It’s how it earned its moniker of “the silent epidemic.
Many survivors and care partners face a gap in support between hospital discharge and reaching radical acceptance, a stage of truly recognizing and accepting life after brain injury, letting go of what was lost, and beginning to focus on what is possible. It’s the point where community programs, social connections, and employment supports become meaningful and more practical.
BrainWaves purpose is to bridge that gap, offering guidance and ongoing support during this critical phase of recovery and beyond.
Fueled by lived experience, BrainWaves is more than a service; it’s a steadfast ally for life after brain injury, restoring lives, one wave at a time.
